Sample Poetry Explication

I am making available by PDF a sample poetry explication that provides an illustration of what I expect from your six poem explications that are due over the next three weeks. This explication pertains to "Nothing Gold Can Stay" by Robert Frost:
Nature's first green is gold
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

  2. Yes indeed. Poor Ponyboy resurrected this poem for generations of the teen set through Hinton's The Outsiders, a book which I believe Naomi is reading for her term paper project.
